One-2-One Device Purchase and Protection Program

Dear Argo Community High School Parents, Guardians and Students,

We're thrilled to introduce our Device Purchase and Protection Program, specially tailored to give our students the best learning experience. Here's what you need to know:

🖥️ About the Program: Enrolling in our One2One Device Purchase and Protection Program (DPPP) allows students to keep their devices after graduation and greatly reduces the potential repair or replacement costs. For only $50 annually, you can ensure that your device is protected throughout the school year.

🛠️ Repairs & Replacements: If any issues arise, devices should be brought to our Technology Department (Room 140) for repairs. Accidents happen, and this program covers a variety of potential mishaps. However, remember to promptly report theft at school within 24 hours to the dean’s office and provide the necessary documentation if it occurs outside school premises from a police report.

🎓 Graduation Benefits: Protect your device with DPPP for all four years, and the device is yours to keep after graduation without extra costs. Less than four years? You can still purchase it for a discounted rate!

What's Covered & What's Not: Our program covers the device itself, including accidental damages and even certain "Act of God" events (fire, flood, lightning strike). However, accessories like chargers, keyboards, and styluses aren't covered. Intentional damage, loss due to negligence, and devices placed in unsecured locations are also not covered.

🚫 Opting Out: While we believe the DPPP offers great value, participation is optional. If you choose not to join, do remember that all repair or replacement costs will be on you.

How to Enroll: It's simple! Parents can log into the PowerSchool parents' site, navigate to the Student Fees screen, and add the DPPP to their cart. Do note, if you have more than one student attending, each one should be enrolled individually.

We're excited about the potential of this program and the benefits it offers. For detailed terms, conditions, and a comprehensive list of coverage, feel free to refer to the document on the right.

One-2-One Device FAQs

What do I do if my device is lost or stolen?

If your child's device is lost or damaged, you or your child must report it immediately to ACHS. Please report any damages or stolen devices to the Technology Room in 140.

Will I be able to connect to the Internet at home?

Parents may allow their child to connect to the Internet at home and outside of school. Students will be bound by the same policies, procedures, and guidelines as at school (see the Device User Agreement and Student Handbook).

What control do parents/guardians have of the device at home?

At home the parent is in charge. Parents have the right to make the rules as to when your child can use the device at home.

Will I need the Internet to use the device at home?

While it may be easier to do some of the work with access to the Internet, it is not required. Students will be able to download most of the information they need onto their device to work on at home. In addition, they will be able to upload completed assignments at school during the start of the school day.

Is there any software preinstalled on the device?

All devices come preloaded with Windows 10 Operating System and the following applications: Microsoft Office 2016 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, OneNote, OneDrive and Outlook) and Adobe Reader. Additional software/apps will be loaded as needed, per the teacher’s request.

Can parents use the device?

While the devices are meant for student use, we encourage parents to explore and learn alongside their children. We also encourage parents to check the devices on a regular basis to see how their students are using them.

Will there be internet access filters on the devices?

ACHS uses software designed to block access to certain sites and filter content as required by statute. The content filter is applied both at school and at home. ACHS is aware that not all inappropriate information can be filtered and the district will make an effort to correct any known gaps in the filtering of information without unduly inhibiting the educational use of age appropriate content by staff and students. Users will inform teachers or administrators of any inadvertent access to inappropriate material, in order that there is appropriate modification of the filtering profile. ACHS educates students about appropriate online behavior, including interacting with other individuals on social networking Web sites and in chat rooms including cyber bullying awareness/response.

Can I install additional software/games/etc.?

No. All required software needs to be installed by ACHS Technology Department.

What’s included?

Touchscreen Device, charging adapter with cable, and stylus.

How will we receive technical assistance?

Students can stop by Room 140 from 7:00am-3:30pm or email [email protected]
